Maryam’s Keenly Observed Facts of Life (Part 48)

Filed under: Facts — somethingtobe @ 9:03 pm

Some actions are as empty as words. Actions lose meaning in the same way that words lose meaning.

An act of generosity intended to please may not always come from a good place. If intended for selfish purposes it destroys its goodness in two ways:

1) It deceives by giving the impression that the gesture is well intentioned, thereby creating in the receiver an impression of false goodness about the giver.

2) It belittles the act of giving.

I guess you can never know the true motivation behind a person’s actions.
