Wolfmother: Hounding, Raucous, Evocative, Aussie!

How very White Stripes!

If you haven't heard of them already, get some Wolfmother in your headphones. Having played to the 55,000 capacity crowd at this year's Big Day Out in Sydney, they've won over us Aussies and even have Rolling Stone Magazine waxing lyrical.

Songs I'm diggin' (see how cool I am) right now include Apple Tree and Colossal.

A little bit of headbanging, a little bit of getting lost in the heavy guitar, a little bit of i don’t have to understand what you're saying, a little bit of misunderstanding. A lot of good music from a trio you could easily dub geeky.

Its music you've got to listen to Loud. Influences I can pick include Filter, Iggy Pop, White Stripes and Queens of the Stone Age.

Aussie! Aussie! Aussie!

Oye! Oye! Oye

  1. there’s a theory that ‘oye oye oye’ is derived from the rallying call used by london’s skin head gangs in the 70’s when beating up immigrant asian families. how it got appropriated as an australian sporting motto is a mystery…
